Here are some highlights of the 2017 Arkansas Youth Tour trip. Indeed a trip of a life time!

There are months of preparation before we get to the welcome/registration. We are grateful for our team. Name badges, packs, T-shirts, instructions, info sheets, check-in — they do it all. Marcia Tabor, Joy Rice, Sandy Trantham and Stacy Rhinehart. We could not do this without them!

Parents and kids looking a little nervous at check in. That nervous part went away quickly.

2016 Youth Tour Delegates came to speak to this years delegates and share their stories on the first night. They still remember how to line up for that group shot!

Arrival in D.C. It was the first plane ride for many.

The Changing of the Guard ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery

A beautiful boat trip on the Potomac River.

Even chaperones, Nancy Meador of First Electric and JD Lowery of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, enjoy an evening cruise on the Potomac River.

We met with U.S. Senator John Boozman outside of the U.S. Capitol.

Eleanor Roosevelt tribute at the FDR Memorial.

Anna Nuttle, delegate from Carroll Electric Cooperative, poses with the original flag that was raised at Iwo Jima, on display at the National Museum of the Marine Corp.

Amelia Earhart’s Lockheed Vega 5B plane she flew solo across the Atlantic is on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Delegates were able to talk with Marines at the Sunset Parade, a performance by the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.

The Lincoln Memorial is especially beautiful at night.

At the WWII Memorial wall of stars. Each star represents 100 service men and women who died in the war.

North Arkansas Cooperative delegates on the National Mall Seth McCurley,Callie Cole, Hannah Rios, chaperone Chris Hickman and Logan Stuart.

Rich Mountain Electric Cooperative delegates Dylan Dodd and Laykin Atchley high five’n the Capital on the National Mall.
