The Village WFCR is in its 19th year of raising awareness and money for cancer research at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, with all proceeds going to the “Seeds of Science Research” program. Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 in cash donations and to register 500 walkers. The walk is Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Balboa Pavilion, 476 Ponce de Leon Dr., with the opening ceremonies starting at 7:30 a.m. Not only will you get to walk, but you will experience and enjoy great food (yes, brats and dogs with all the fixings provided by Clampit’s), celebration cake (provided by Sweet Cheeks), music provided by Larry Wilson, the VFW Honor Guard, bake sale and a Silent Auction. Dr. Michael Birrer, Assistant Chancellor and Director of the Cancer Institute, will share the latest updates on cancer research and the winner of the 2019 Seeds of Science program will also join us. But most importantly, we will recognize our honorees, survivor Martha Smither and the memory of Shirley Engquist.
Join us and help us walk away cancer, one step at a time.
