In this 3-day course with Jim Crowell, students will learn how to forge a blade as opposed to grinding one from bar stock using a gas-fired forge to create hunting-knife-type- blades. This class is designed to teach and familiarize each student with the types of steels that are used for forging blades, the proper heat/temperature, how to prepare for rough grinding and heat treating. Time permitting, students may also learn to rough grind the blades. This class will be taught in Crowell’s professional knife making studio west of Mountain View, near Timbo. Design, materials, tools and equipment will be discussed. This class is open to all levels.

November 2, 3, 4 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Contact the AR Craft School to sign up and obtain the (off-campus) studio location for this course.  $450 plus $50 materials fee for the instructor.
