The Douglas County Veterans Memorial Association in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri, has been honored by being selected to host The Wall That Heals. We are the only organization and community in Missouri and Arkansas to receive this honor in 2018.
The replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will be in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri September 20-23, 2018.
Ava MO is located 1 hour SE of Springfield, 1 hour NE of Branson and 1 hour North of Mt. Home.
The Wall will be located at the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association facility 1 mile North of Ava on Hi-way 5.
The wall will be available, free of charge, to the public from Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23, 2018. It will be available for viewing 24/7 while being hosted in Ava.
We anticipate several thousand visitors to the wall while it is in Ava. We are inviting all MO and AR school districts in Arkansas to bring their students to view the wall and learn about the honor, respect, and sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.
There are over 58000 names on the wall. 1422 of those are from Missouri and 5 are from Ava and Douglas County.
The Honors ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 22 with the keynote speaker at 2:30.
We would like you extend an invitation to all Missouri and Arkansas residents and visitors to visit The Wall while it is in Ava and to attend this special closing event.
Due to this being the only display in Missouri and Arkansas in 2018, we are calling the special honoring ceremony, Ava’s Salute to Vietnam Veterans. In addition to our keynote speaker, we are inviting several special individuals and groups to participate in this ceremony.
We are planning events on Saturday that will begin at 10:00 AM
We are inviting all Bikers to come and participate as an escort for The Wall. We want to exceed 500 Bike Escorts and Patriot Guard Riders.
