Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions
- Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg and molasses. Sift in flour, salt, baking soda and spices, mix well.
- Chill in refrigerator 1 hour.
- Roll out 1/3 of dough 1/8-inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut with pastry cookie cutter. Repeat procedure until dough is used up.
- Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 375 F for 10 minutes.
