Thirty-six competitors from eight electric cooperatives gathered May 8 at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas Lineman Rodeo. Apprentices and journeymen competed in timed events that mirrored real-world linework situations.
“The Lineman Rodeo is conducted to reinforce safety, strengthen technical skills, promote continuous training and recognize the professionalism of lineworkers across the distribution cooperatives,” Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation Safety Analyst Kathryn Webb said.
The overall winning team — Cody Lehr, Colby Teigen and Zach Johnston of Carroll Electric — will advance to represent their cooperative at the International Lineman’s Rodeo Oct. 14-17 in Overland Park, Kansas.
