Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 chicken thighs, bone-in
  • 3 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil

Directions

  • Heat oven to 400.
  • In a large bowl, beat egg with buttermilk. Add chicken pieces to mixture, and refrigerate for 1 to 4 hours.
  • In a shallow dish combine, flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, thyme and sage. Remove chicken from buttermilk, giving pieces a shake before dredging in flour mixture to coat.
  • Add oil to rimmed metal baking pan, and place in oven. When oil is hot, add chicken, basting pieces with oil.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, or until chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees. Chicken pieces can be turned at the halfway point, if desired.
